Friends of Blue Thumb (FBT) is a nonprofit organization that helps the environment by supporting volunteers and conservation districts involved in monitoring and/or water quality education. FBT supports volunteer citizen scientists who collect stream data and educate the public about stream and river protection. Past projects supported by FBT include purchasing waders for a teacher who involves her students in Blue Thumb monitoring, purchasing the supplies to create an educational display and providing scholarships to members to attend water quality conferences. FBT also supports member conservation districts by offering small grants that help conservation districts focus efforts on water quality education.
FBT is a 501(c)3 organization. Active Blue Thumb volunteers are automatically members. People who are not active volunteers can become a member by paying a yearly $10 membership fee or purchase a lifetime membership for $150.
